3rd-12th Grade Choices (4 options):

1. On-Line Academy (internet based curriculum) 3rd-12th grade: SEA offers Switched-On Online which is an internet-based remote access program which utilizes the most current version of Alpha Omega Publications' award-winning Switched-On-Schoolhouse for grades 3-12. It features 3-D animation and cutting edge multimedia. Students finish lessons by completing various questions, activities, and quizzes, with a computer over the internet.  Parents using a satellite or dial up will not be able to use the online program, but air cards with broadband may work. Otherwise, the CD curriculum should be selected.

2. Paper Based Curriculum (LIFEPAC or Horizon):  SEA will normally structure paper based curriculum users with LIFEPAC curriculum unless parents specify they would like to use Horizons for their younger student. LIFEPAC is available for 1st-12th grade.  With LIFEPAC, students work in full-color worktexts, combining exercises, projects, review, and tests.  The LIFEPAC structure features a systematic review of learned concepts. Each new concept or skill is reinforced within the LIFEPAC worktext in which it is introduced. Then concepts and skills are integrated across all five subjects in the curriculum. Finally, previously mastered material becomes the building block for new concepts in higher grade levels.  Horizons is available for 1st-2nd grade, but offers Penmanship up to 5th grade and Math up to 6th grade.  Horizons is also available for complete Preschool and Kindergarten programs. Horizons uses brightly illustrated lessons that includes a variety of activities, making learning fun.  Complete teacher materials make it easy to chart your student’s progress. Each of the 160 lessons begins with a new concept or an expansion of a previously covered concept. Every concept follows a deliberate pattern of introduction and gradual development, ensuring mastery.

3. CD Based Curriculum (internet is not required) 3rd-12th grade:  SEA uses Switched-On Schoolhouse which is a comprehensive, Biblically based curriculum that offers computer-based learning.   It features 3-D animation and cutting edge multimedia. Students finish lessons by completing various questions, activities, and quizzes, all through a CD-Rom program. SOS provides automatic grading, record keeping, and lesson planning with the click of a mouse. Most of the grading is automatic so parents only have to grade subjective questions. Parents may find their work cut in half with the record keeping and lesson planning features.

4. Combination Curriculum (a mix of paper based and internet based) 3rd-12th grade:   Students in our combination program will normally use paper based LIFEPAC curriculum for some subjects and use internet based curriculum for the remainder of their subjects. The combination method offers several benefits (such as freeing up the computer for a second child, more writing experience, having the flexibility for portable student work in case you need to be somewhere else occasionally that does not have a computer).  There is a small amount of extra record work when using more than one type of curriculum.

1st-2nd Grade Choices (2 options):

1. LIFEPAC Paper Based Curriculum:  SEA will normally structure paper based curriculum users with LIFEPAC curriculum unless parents specify they would like to use Horizons for their younger student. LIFEPAC has the benefit of being able to be continued through 12th grade.

2. Horizons Paper Based Curriculum:  Horizons is available for 1st-2nd grade, but offers Penmanship up to 5th grade and Math up to 6th grade.  Students can continue Horizons Math through 6th grade while switching to LIFEPAC, CD, or internet for other subjects at 3rd grade. Normally Penmanship is considered an elective (extra cost) which could be used as a sixth subject for any student in 1st-5th grade while using any of our curriculum programs.

Kindergarten Choices (2 options):

1. Horizons:  Normally we suggest using this for kindergarten.  It includes Horizons Math K and Horizons Phonics and Reading K.  Math K- From counting and place value to comparisons and fractions, Horizons Math Kindergarten provides both a fun and functional way for students to learn basic math skills that become the building blocks for learning.  Math concepts are presented within 160 colorful student lessons, each lesson providing a review and presenting new material. A Teacher Handbook comes with student worksheets, answer keys, teaching tips, and additional activities to provide resources for parents to help the learning process.  Phonics and Reading K- This curriculum is a phonetically based word recognition and early reading program.  Students learn to identify the names and sounds of each letter through a picture association with an alphabet story.  This creative and colorful approach makes learning fun.

2. LIFEPAC:  Language Arts K-  A phonics-based program designed to equip young readers to master basic letter and sound recognition. Emphasis upon colors, following directions, sentence writing, listening skills, and writing name.  This program is not as accelerated as the Horizons program.  Math K- Students engage in a variety of math activities including counting, comparisons, shapes, directions, before and after, place value, time/calendar, problem solving, and money concepts.

Preschool (so good we do not use any other curriculum):

1. Horizons Preschool Readiness:  Biblically-based lessons and hands-on learning activities give preschoolers an introduction to social studies, language arts, math, phonics, and science. Additional topics such as health & safety, arts & crafts, music, and physical education add variety and depth to this foundational curriculum. This program can be easily adapted to a variety of daily schedules and program objectives with a flexible organizational structure. The 180 lessons come packaged in two student books, two teacher’s guides, a sing along music CD, and a resource packet. Basic flashcards and other manipulatives are included in the resource packet. An optional package of recommended multimedia is available separately.
